Wonderful traditional hotel with a very relaxing seating area & lovely views - red squirrels running around in the grounds. Great place to stop for coffee, snacks or lunch, with very friendly staff who welcome you.

Thoroughly recommended. A nice quiet location with great views and ideally situated for walks to nearby fells including Cat Bells. The service was excellent, all requests were catered for during our stay and the restaurant and bar staff are always warm and friendly. The room seemed to be newly renovated to a good standard as the corridors looked more dated. It was modern, clean and comfortable. Lovely balcony to sit on an evening and watch the red squirrels in the garden. Really could not fault this place.

Wonderful weekend stay in the quieter Borrowdale valley. Perfect location, great food, staff were fantastic. We were lucky with the weather and managed to see some red squirrels. We had their three course dinner, which has about 4 options that change every night. Very tasty.
