Among the many activities on offer while staying in our 4 star hotel, along with hiking and fell-walking and cycling, is mountain climbing.
The Lakes is a perfect place to enjoy a spot of climbing, and while some routes are fine for complete beginners, it’s always great if you can also get in some experience on an indoor wall before trying an outdoor climb.
Locally based company Womenrock offers constructive experience in this activity, in a fun, supportive environment, and helps clients focus on honing specific skills as well as gaining confidence in the mountains.
It offers highly tailored experiences, and mountain instructor Mandy Glanvill will be pleased to come to Borrowdale Gate and take your party out from the hotel to do some climbing. Group sizes tend to be small, and couples, family and other groups and individuals can all book some time to benefit from Mandy’s expertise.
We are lucky in this part of the world to have so many superb and varied climbing routes, from Brown Slabs Shepherd’s Crag, which is great as an introductory climb, to the classic Napes Needle Great Gable Crag. This is classed as a hard to strenuous climb, and there are no fewer than eight routes up, all offering an unforgettable day in the fells.
For more experienced climbers, the Central Buttress of Scafell allows you to reach higher into the fells and is a long and involved climb that takes you to high and exposed areas, so is best completed in the summer.
