Here in the Lake District, we’re surrounded by a huge number of top quality local food and drink producers: small, independent businesses who offer truly outstanding produce from fish and meat to bread and dairy products. Our 4 Star hotel’s AA Rosette restaurant makes the most of the food the area has to offer, supporting local producers by serving many of these fantastic ingredients to our restaurant diners.
We source our local Herdwick lamb from Yew Tree Farm in Coniston – a farm once owned by Beatrix Potter – and our freshly baked bread from craft bakery Bryson’s of Keswick: a family-run bakery that has been in operation for almost 70 years.
As well as the hyper-local Borrowdale Fish, we also source smoked fish from Cartmel Valley Game, and fresh fish and seafood from well-known fresh fish specialist M&J Seafood: the quality of their fresh produce truly is outstanding.
The eggs that you’ll enjoy for your morning breakfasts and in our cakes and other dishes are from the local area, being supplied by Pennine Eggs, whose Lion Quality Eggs are incredibly fresh and fully traceable thanks to the code printed on the shell of every egg that they supply.
Even our coffee is local, coming from Farrers Coffee in Kendal. Kendal is also home to The Cheese Larder, who ensure that we have a great range of both British and continental cheeses to offer to our guests.
There’s no denying that the Lake District is home to far more than hiking, climbing and other sports, and is not just an area of outstanding beauty. It’s also home to a great range of local food and drink, and we’re proud to serve you some of the best.
